Production: Editing Scene One.

 Welcome!

Join me to talk about my editing process for the first scene of my short film.

After wrapping up our first scene at the library, the next step was diving into the editing process. It’s always exciting to see how raw footage starts coming together, but as any filmmaker knows, editing can be just as challenging as filming—if not more! It’s amazing how different the raw footage can look compared to what I had imagined while filming. The lighting was mostly great, but there were a few shots that needed color correction to make everything feel cohesive.

One of the trickiest parts was syncing the audio with the video. We had some background noise from the library. I spent some time cleaning up the sound to make sure the dialogue was crisp and clear, which really helped the scene flow better.

As I edited, I noticed how the multiple takes we did ended up being so helpful. Those extra angles gave me the flexibility to cut between different shots, making the scene more dynamic. It was a relief to see everything coming together after all the work we put into filming. I had to make a few tough decisions on what to keep and what to cut, but in the end, I was happy with how it turned out.

After finishing up editing that scene the next step was to schedule the next filming date. I’ve been coordinating with my friends to figure out everyone's availability. It’s always a challenge to align everyone’s schedules, but I'm making it work. The group and I are aiming to film the next scenes over the weekend, hoping the weather and locations cooperate.

Overall, I’m excited to keep the momentum going. Each step in the process brings me closer to finishing this project, and I can’t wait to see how the final product will look once everything is put together.

That's all.
